Welcome to Region 13’s Blog: Bats, Music, and Education!

Region 13 is located in our great state capital city of Austin, which is also the 11th most populous city in the US. It serves 54 school districts, 28 charter schools, 9 institutes of higher learning including the University of Texas at Austin, and 9 private schools. We cover the central Texas area to include 13 counties, namely: Bastrop, Bell, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Comal, Fayette, Gilliespie, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Kendall, Lee, Llano, Milam, Travis, and Williamson.

Some unique things here are the largest urban bat colonies, the live music capital of the world, great culture and cuisine, the beautiful natural landscapes and scenic hill country, SXSW, a technology hub and innovation earning the nickname of “Silicon Hills”, and Circuit of Americas hosts Formula1 car racing annually.
