President's Message

Apriil 15, 2010 President’s Message:

Greetings:

Thank you for visiting the ACET website!  I hope you find your visit here useful to assist you in staying informed regarding the work of our association and current news from around the state/nation. We are seeing many changes coming our way due to both state and federal legislation making it imperative that we stay informed in order to respond proactively through these challenges. Please visit our website often because we will be updating the site on a regular basis.

We had an outstanding Spring 2010 Conference embracing the theme: “Accept the Challenge! Impact the Future!” Our Program Planning Committee under the leadership of President-Elect, John Emerich, is already planning sessions for our fall conference to be held October 20-22 in McAllen, Texas. Keep revisiting the website for the announcement of the fall theme and conference registration information.

ACET continues to be an excellent organization where members interact with each other regarding successful state and federal programs. We welcome active participation of ACET members. If you are interested in helping with future conferences in any way (greeting registrants at the Registration Booth, presenting a session for successful programs, facilitating a concurrent session, helping attendees locate hotel meeting rooms, etc.) please contact Vice President for Membership, Shelley McDowell, at smcdowell@northlamar.net  or President-Elect, John Emerich, at jemerich@newcaneyisd.org. They will make sure your information is provided to the appropriate committee chairperson.

During our 2010 fall conference we will be electing regional directors (for the even numbered regions), president-elect and secretary positions. Please view the ACET Constitution for nomination requirements.

We desire to continue honoring our retiring members. If you (or someone you know) will be retiring and would like to be recognized during a conference, please submit that information as soon as possible to our Awards Chairperson, Vickie Ansley at Vickie.ansley@esc16.net .

Our national affiliate, NAFEPA, keeps us informed on activities in Washington with special emphasis currently regarding the reauthorization progress of ESEA. Check the link on this website to learn more about the NAFEPA organization.

I wish you a successful closing of your 2009-2010 school year, a restful summer, and a refreshed return for the 2010-2011 fall semester!

Thank you for all that you do for Texas children, parents, and school personnel.

I look forward to seeing you at the ACET conference in McAllen!

Respectfully yours,

Eileen Lytle

2010 ACET President
